In 2002, Shawna set out to create an album that she could call her own. After spending countless hours with her guitar, pencil, paper, and writing partners, she came up with 13 songs she felt strongly enough about to be a part of her album. Pre-production began in fall, 2003; Edmonton session musician Gordie Matthews (KD Lang, Ian Tyson) worked closely with Shawndel to fine-tune many of the songs found on the album.

Believe was recorded at Homestead Recorders of Edmonton, Alberta. Producer Barry Allen has created an album which is fresh yet familiar to the country music ear; this helped in large part by the group of incredibly talented studio musicians: Gordie Mathews (KD Lang, Ian Tyson), Chad Melchert (Adam Gregory), Darcy Phillips (Jann Arden), Derek Stremel (Adam Gregory), Tony Michael, Ryan Davidson and Tyler Volrath.

Believe is sure to delight any fan of country or popular music. With striking melodies, touching lyrics, and strong beats, this album surely has something for everyone. As keyboardist Jann Arden's keyboardist, Darcy Philips, said at the CD listening party "looks like you've passed with an A in the country music industry!"
